#Wimbledon: Roger Federer Beats Rafael Nadal to Reach Final
Roger Federer won the 40th installment of his great rivalry with Rafael Nadal to reach a 12th Wimbledon final, 11 years on from their classic encounter at the All England Club.
Swiss second seed Federer won 7-6 (7-3) 1-6 6-3 6-4 against the Spanish third seed before an enthralled Centre Court.
It was the first meeting at Wimbledon between the two longtime rivals since the 2008 final, when Nadal won an epic fifth set 9-7 as darkness descended — considered by some to be the greatest match in the sport’s lengthy annals.
Roger Federer will face defending champion Novak Djokovic in Sunday’s final, targeting a record-extending ninth Wimbledon title.
“I’m exhausted,” 38-year-old Federer said. “It was tough at the end.”
