Walter Onnoghen, the Chief Justice of Nigeria due to be arraigned for alleged false assets declaration charges, was absent in cour when his trial commenced on Monday morning.
The Chairman of the Tribunal, Umar Danladi and the two other presiding judges of the tribunal, are already seated.
After calling the case, the court official observed that Justice Onnoghen was not present in the court.
The chief justice was charged with six counts of false asset declaration by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) on January 10.
Chief Wole Olanipekun who led 46 other Senior Advocates of Nigeria and 43 other lawyers, told the tribunal that the CJN had filed a motion dated January 14, challenging jurisdiction of the tribunal to try him.
