Officer Ogunyemi Olalekan who shot and killed Mr Kolade Johnson appeared in Ikeja High court on Tuesday.
Olalekan and three other officers were on illegal duty when the officers shot sporadically in the act.
When called to the dock, he plead not guilty.
At the arraignment, the prosecution informed the court that Olalekan, who worked with the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, committed the offence at 5:10pm on March 31 at Onipetesi Estate, Mangoro, Lagos.
“The former police inspector unlawfully killed Johnson by shooting him with an AK47 rifle in the lower abdomen.
“The offence contravenes Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015,” said the prosecutor.
The judge then set January 15th 2020 for commencement of the trial. Officer Olalekan who has changed his lawyer, tried to use that as an excuse for the trial date to be extended but the judge was not having any of that.
What struck people the most was the fact that the killer is looking really good for someone behind bars. Rumour has it that he payed for a VIP prison cell and is getting a vip treatment.
Imagine a killer being treated well just because he can afford it. May all those helping him never get their family member murdered.
May Kolade Johnson and his family get justice come January 15th 2020. We are all watching. #justiceforkoladejohnson
