There Were Five Attempt To Disrupt PDP Convention –Makarfi
The Chairman of National Caretaker Committee, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ahmed Makarfi, said there were five failed attempts to stop Saturday’s non-elective national convention of the party.
Makarfi made this known at the opening ceremony of the 75th PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party held at the party national Secretariat on Friday, August 11, 2017 in Abuja.
He said main reason of the meeting was to enable the NEC members review events across the country.
Makarfi said: “At least there were four or five attempts to this convention through the court but as God will have it we overcame all those attempts.
“Some people never give up. We must not think that we are out of the woods. People will continue with legal minds in our paths.
“We are going to overcome that with our resilience and to do the needful.”
The Governor of Ekiti and PDP Governors’ Forum, Mr Ayodele Fayose, also speaking at the meeting, pledged the forum’s commitment and submission to PDP decisions.
The Chairman, PDP Board of Trustees (BOT), Sen. Wali Jubrin gave the assurance that the board would not allow the party to die.
Meanwhile, former President of the Senate, David Mark, has urged of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members to ensure a hitch-free exercise that would strengthen the party.
In a statement by his spokesman, Paul Mumeh, Mark expressed optimism about the future of the party after the convention.
He, however, warned PDP members that the party could not afford to make another mistake.
“I am impressed by the renewed enthusiasm and commitment of members towards rebuilding the party after the protracted leadership tussle.
“We have come this far through a tortuous journey. We cannot afford to make another mistake that could affect the fortunes of the party in the days ahead”, Mark said.
