Shiite Protest: Court Grants El-Zakzaky’s Request to Travel Abroad
A Kaduna High Court Monday granted the Islamic Movement of Nigeria’s leader Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife Zeenat permission to travel out of the country for medical attention.
The court Monday morning granted the incarcerated IMN leader to travel to India for treatment.
Sheikh Zakzaky, who is in his mid-sixties, has been imprisoned for four years and needs to undergo treatments before soon.
The government accused the group of not recognising the Nigerian constitution and authority.
During the brutal crackdown, three of his sons lost their lives, his wife sustained serious wounds, and some 350 of his followers were killed.
His lawyer, Femi Falana SAN, had during the last sitting of the court gave an update on El-Zakzaky and his wife’s health and why they should be granted bail.
