Real Salt Lake 1 Manchester United 2: Romelu Lukaku Scores First Man Utd Goal ( Highlight)
Romelu Lukaku scored his first goal for Manchester United in a 2-1 pre-season win over Real Salt Lake on Monday evening.
The Belgian, 24, who signed from Everton for £75m got the winner seven minutes before half-time to add to Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s equaliser after United had fallen behind on 20 minutes.
United made 11 changes at half-time and saw Antonio Valencia shown a straight red card for a challenge from behind and Juan Mata forced off with an ankle injury.
“I told him I love what he does. He assists, he moves. He holds the ball well. I like everything he does.”
Phil Jones and United struggled to cope with RSL’s pace as Luis Silva gave the hosts a surprise 23rd-minute lead, but Mkhitaryan restored parity six minutes later and the Armenian star turned provider for Lukaku before half-time.
Mourinho’s side head to Houston and the NRG Stadium for the ICC Champions Cup where they will take on Manchester City (July 21 – 3am BST) in the first Manchester derby to be played outside the UK, before facing Real Madrid at Levi’s Stadium on July 23 at 10pm BST.
