Precious Owolabi: Nigerians React to Death of Youth Corper Shot Dead in Shiites/Police Clash
Nigerians are reacting to the death of Precious Owolabi, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member shot dead during a Shiites protest on Monday
Mr Owolabi, who is in an intern with Channels Television, was rushed to the hospital after being hit but died on Monday evening. The deceased was among the TV’s crew covering the protests.
The members of Shiite Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) are calling for the release of Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, a foremost Nigerian Shiite cleric who has been in jail for over four years.
Nigerians have taken to twitter to mourn the death of the aspiring journalist.
I am saddened to hear of the death of many Nigerians yesterday in Abuja, including young Precious Owolabi, DCP Umar and members of the Shiite sect. Whatever strategy is being deployed by the State is clearly not working and needs to be rethought. May their souls Rest In Peace.

We lost a corps member Precious Owolabi serving with Channels TV, DCP Umar and some protesting IMN members. These killings are avoidable. Government must rethink its rules of engagement, it is quite clear the current model isn’t working. These lives were wasted.

Thinking of Precious Owolabi while humming the lines of the NYSC anthem in my head:
“Youths obey the clarion call
Let us lift our nation high
Under the sun or in the rain
With dedication and selflessness…”
Does Nigeria deserve such dedication as demanded in the lines above? pic.twitter.com/8vnmVgiJWd

Precious Owolabi the Youth Corper serving with channels TV who was shot has died. Another innocent young life cut short by Muhammadu Buhari. A man who thrives on the shedding of the blood of young Nigerians. We remember Bauchi 2011
Ijeoma Onyeator actually wept on live TV.

The death of Precious Owolabi, the Deputy Commissioner of Police and others could have been well prevented if the government had done the necessary before now. Nigeria again has failed these innocent lives. May their souls rest in peace.

No one deserves to die the way Precious Owolabi died today.
1. Serving a country that has failed you as its citizen
2. A reckless mistake that could have been avoided if not for the presidents high handedness
Buhari killed Precious Owolabi#Shiites

It’s a sad day. First it was DCP Umar and now Precious owolabi . For how long will the Shiites / FG face off continue. Living peacefully in this country seems to be very expensive right now. pic.twitter.com/75CzXkNjbr
