Orji Uzor Kalu: Please Don’t Handcuff me in Public, Convicted Ex-Gov Kalu Begs Prison Warders
Former Abia State Governor, Orji Kalu, who was sentenced to 12 years in prison for fraud, was seen asking prison warders, “where are you taking us to?” After his sentencing.
Kalu’s 12-year-old trial for N7.1 billion fraud came to an end with Justice Idris Mohammed finding him guilty of all 39 counts filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The former governor, who appeared shaken, said, “Where are you taking us to now? Please don’t handcuff me. I will follow you.”
The judge also found Kalu’s company, SLOK Limited guilty on 39 counts, while the ex-governor’s former Director of Finance and Accounts at SLOK was found guilty on 34 counts.
The case began in 2007, 12 years ago, when they were first arraigned for the offences, but before a different judge.
