Nine Confirmed Dead as Gunmen Attacked a Community in Benue State
Nine people have been confirmed dead after gunmen invaded their community in Benue state.
The hoodlums stormed the village at about 8 am allegedly in search of a rival gang member but left disappointed when they could not locate him.
The command’s spokesman, Moses Yamu, stated that more security personnel had been sent to the area to bring calmness to the community.
Condemning, the attack, Governor Samuel Ortom issued an order to the security agencies to go after the bandits.
The governor, however, said three persons had been arrested in connection with the attack.
According to Ortom’s Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, necessary steps had been taken to prevent further attacks in Tse Ujoh community as well as Ikyurav-Tiev area.
Akase in a statement said, “Governor Ortom reassured the people of the state that his administration will not allow the armed militia to continue to terrorize communities.
“He encouraged anyone with information that can lead to the apprehension of the gang to contact the police, Department of State Services or the military.”
