#NigeriaHasDecided: Don’t Humiliate Opposition, Buhari Begs Supporters
President Muhammadu Buhari has made a special plea to his supporters to not humiliate the opposition after his comprehensive victory over Atiku Abubakar in the 2019 presidential election.
The president, who reacted to the outcome of the 2019 Presidential Election when he visited the All Progressives Congress, APC Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, Situation Room in Abuja, also thanked domestic and international observers for contributing to the success of the elections.
“I will like to make a special appeal to my supporters not to gloat or humiliate the opposition. Victory is enough reward for your efforts,” he said.
Buhari who said he was saddened by the loss of some innocent Nigerians during the elections, noted that the election was relatively peaceful but for the activities of those he described as troublemakers whom he said attempted to disrupt the polls.
“I would like to commend our security agencies, as severely overstretched as they are, for handling the difficult task of securing the country during the election period,’’ he said.
Buhari won 15,191,847 of the total votes cast while Atiku gained 11,262,978 votes, an astonishing victory margin of 3,928,869 votes.
