Nigeria Sees Off Liberia in Exhibition Match as 51-Year-Old President Weah Makes Appearance
The Super Eagles of Nigeria ran out 2-1 winners in the shitshow of a friendly game against Liberia that had 51-year-old President George Weah in action for over 75 minutes.
Goals from Simeon Nwankwo and Henry Onyekuru handed the Super Eagles a slim victory over the Lone Stars who got their lone strike via the penalty spot.
Henry Onyekuru, who is currently on Galatasaray, opened the scoring for the Super Eagles, firing into the top corner to make it 1-0.
Nwankwo doubled the lead in the 33rd minute after Oghenekharo Etebo floated a corner kick in the goal area of the hosts.
However, Kpah Sherman reduced the deficit from the penalty spot late in the second half.
The game was billed to celebrate Weah and formally retire the No.14 jersey of the former Liberia international, Ballon d’Or Winner and FIFA World Footballer of the Year in 1995.
