Nicolas Pepe: Arsenal Have €80m Bid Accepted For Lille Winger
Arsenal have reached an agreement with French club Lille to sign Ivory Coast winger Nicolas Pepe in a deal worth 80m euros (£72m).
Liverpool, Manchester United, Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain had all been credited with an interest in the Ivory Coast international, who bagged an impressive 23 goals and 12 assists across all competitions in the 2018-19 season.
While the 24-year-old has not agreed personal terms with any of those clubs, it has been revealed that Arsenal are the player’s preferred option.
Italian side Napoli also met Lille’s asking price, but their proposal was rejected by the player’s camp.
Napoli were willing to pay Pepe £3.6m per year, but with the Ivory Coast international seeking a £4.5m annual salary, Arsenal have made a stronger offer.
Should Pepe arrive, he’ll be the north Londoners’ four signing of the summer, with Gabriel Martinelli arriving from Ituano, Dani Ceballos joining on loan from Real Madrid and William Saliba being brought in in a deal that will see him loaned back to Saint-Etienne.
