Mourinho Tops Spurs Wishlist to Replace Pochettino
Tottenham have sacked Mauricio Pochettino as manager, the Premier League club announced on Tuesday, with sources telling ESPN FC that Jose Mourinho is at the top of the club’s wish list to take over.
Talks continued into Tuesday night, while both sides believe a deal is close and will be concluded by Wednesday. His first game would be at West Ham on Saturday lunchtime.
Pochettino, 47, was sacked as Spurs boss on Tuesday after five years in charge of the north London club.
Pochettino, who moved to Spurs from Southampton in May 2014, led the London club to the final of the UEFA Champions League last season, where they fell 2-0 to Liverpool in Madrid.
Portuguese Mourinho has been out of work since being sacked by United in December 2018.
