Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola And Tottenham’s Harry Kane Win Awards
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has set a Premier League record by being named manager of the month four consecutive times.
City won six Premier League matches in December – including important victories over Manchester United and Tottenham – before drawing their seventh match against Crystal Palace.
Tottenham striker Kane has been named Player of the Month for the second time this season after scoring eight goals in six matches in December.
He has now equal ex-Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard’s record of winning the award six times.
Kane scored twice against Stoke, before getting back-to-back hat-tricks against Burnley and Southampton as he broke Alan Shearer’s record for the most Premier League goals in a calendar year.
Meanwhile, Jermain Defoe was awarded goal of the month with a spectacular effort in his side 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace.
He scored the equaliser came after the break with a stunning looped half-volley from an acute angle after Lewis Cook’s long ball.
