Match Report: Man Utd 1-2 Sevilla (Agg: 1-2)
Manchester United crashed out of the Champions League as Sevilla ran out 2-1 winners on the night and on aggregate in their last-16 tie at Old Trafford.
Substitute Wissam Ben Yedder was the match-winner for the Spanish side, stroking in from inside the area just two minutes after coming on to put the away side ahead.
United needed two goals to progress, but Ben Yedder netted again with a header at the far post moments later, the ball just crossing the line after David de Gea failed to keep it out.
Romelu Lukaku lashed home from close range with seven minutes remaining, but it proved to be merely a consolation.
United exit the competition along with Tottenham, but Premier League leaders Manchester City and Liverpool progressed to Friday’s quarter-final draw. Chelsea can join them if they beat Barcelona on Wednesday.
