Ligue 1: Nigerian Striker, Victor Osimhen Fires Lille to Comfortable Saint-Etienne Win
Nigerian starlet Victor Osimhen shot a brace that took him to the top of the Ligue 1 scoring charts as Lille cruised to a simple 3-0 win over Saint-Etienne on Wednesday.
He also scored two goals on his debut on the opening day of the season against FC Nantes.
The 20-year-old fired in the hosts’ opener shortly before the break and sealed the points with a fine turn-and-strike 15 minutes from the end, taking his tally to four goals from the season’s opening three matches.
Home boy Jonathan Bamban had earlier converted a penalty for Lille in the 69th minute.
Lille, who will play in the UEFA Champions League this season, are now fourth on the table with six goals from three matches.
Osimhen who was part of the Super Eagles squad to the last Nations cup in Egypt it will be recalled replace injured Odion Ighalo in the third place match which Nigeria won by a lone goal.
