Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brilliant hat-trick as Juventus produced a stunning Champions League comeback, winning 3-0 at home against Atletico Madrid to progress to the quarter-finals 3-2 on aggregate.

Trailing 2-0 from the first leg in Madrid, Juventus thought they had halved the deficit within four minutes when Giorgio Chiellini turned the ball in from a corner, but his effort was ruled out by VAR.

The 34-year-old scored first in the 27th minute when he got in front of Juanfran to head in Federico Bernardeschi’s cross at the far post.

He pulled Juve level three minutes after the break from another wide delivery.

The excellent Federico Bernardeschi then drove into the penalty area and was brought down by Angel Correa, with Ronaldo stepping up with four minutes to go to convert the spot-kick and down Atletico yet again.

Juventus’ fans erupted on the final whistle and the players rushed to Ronaldo after he delivered one of the most memorable European nights in the club’s history.
