Today, Film Practitioners in Nigeria gathered to make history as they formally launch a new scheme Nolly Insured and the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding.
The Scheme is a unified one for health, life, general insurance and pension for the creative sector industry wihich seeks to secure pension and health of the practitioners.
Present at this event was seasoned actor, Fred Amata ( President, Director’s Guild of Nigeria), Charles Inogie (President, SWNG), Iyen Agbonifo-Obaseki President, CDGN) Yinka Oduniyi ( President ITPAN) Dr. Olasimbo Davidson (MD/CEO Pinewood Medicare), Miss Adetola Adegbayi ( ED General Business, Leadway Insurance) and other actors, filmmakers, make up artists , marketers and many more practitioners in the creative industry who all make up TAMPAN, ITPAN,A MPEEN, CDGN, CSN, DGN, MOPPAN, SGWN, NANTAP.
Speaking at the event, Fred Amata encouraged practitioners to see the need to be a part of this scheme that has been in the pipeline for so long, he also paid tribute to the fallen heroes of Nollywood who one ailment or the other snatched in recent times. Moving on, the actor stressed that movements like this can help reduce loosing colleagues to health issues as well as give practitioners a room to save hugely for rainy days.
He also thanked the Management of Leadway insurance and Pensure as well as Pinewood Medicare for teaming up with the industry to make this a reality.
In a chat with many attendees including Actor Obi Madubogwu, who recently battled Diabetes, the movement was long overdue and it feels so good to finally have it come to stay.
