FRSC Boss Arrrested by Police For Killing Colleague in Anambra State
Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Onitsha, Anambra State, Paulinus Akpotobo, and another senior officer have been arrested by the Onitsha Police Area Command for allegedly strangling a colleague, Emeka Ojei, to death.
The commissioner of police in the state, Mustapha Dandaura, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the incident occurred in FRSC office in Onitsha on Thursday, June 6.
According to the Guardian, Ojei was about sending the report, the officer he was to indict rushed to him pleading forgiveness. But his plea was said to have fallen on deaf ears.
“Ojei was working on a report on a corruption case.
“He had in his phone, the corruption report indicting one of his assailants, which he intended to submit at the Corps Headquarters in Benin.
However, he was called back by his boss, who insisted that he shouldn’t go, but he refused.
“He was then dragged with his phone by his boss while another officer joined them.
“The struggle was still going on when at a point, he was held around the neck until he collapsed and later died,” the source said.
When contacted on the telephone, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mustapha Dandaura said he was yet to be briefed on the matter.
He said, “I just came into the state. I travelled. So, I’m yet to be briefed on the matter. Give us some time; we shall get back to you.”
