Former Borno State Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff Interrogated By EFCC
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday grilled former governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff.
According to reports, EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, said: “He responded to an invite and was quizzed.”
Though Uwujaren did not provide details, he however, added that Sheriff “is to return for further questioning tomorrow (today).”
It was gathered that Sheriff was questioned on how he raised $72million to buy a G650 Gulfstream aircraft after leaving office in 2011.
The politician has at least two private jets.
The former governor, who was grilled for many hours yesterday, was however allowed to go home on administrative bail and asked to return on today with some documents.
Recall that Sheriff was once arrested by the anti-graft agency in June 2015 over alleged embezzlement of public funds during his tenure as Kogi state governor.
Sheriff’s government allegedly mismanaged the sum of N300billion received from the Federation Account between 2003 and 2011.
