Paying tithes has been a longstanding commandment of the God. Tithing was part of the Mosaic law for the children of Israel Numbers 18:21–28
The concept of tithing (giving 10 percent of your income to God) is taught in the Old Testament. God’s people are told to give the first 10 percent of their field and flocks to God. “A tithe of everything from the land belongs to the Lord” (Leviticus 27:30).
