The Bible and other scriptures explain that tithing is about more than money. Tithing in the Bible is first mentioned in the book of Genesis. Tithing teaches important principles such as obedience, self-discipline, and sacrifice.

Paying tithes has been a longstanding commandment of the God. Tithing was part of the Mosaic law for the children of Israel Numbers 18:21–28

The concept of tithing (giving 10 percent of your income to God) is taught in the Old Testament. God’s people are told to give the first 10 percent of their field and flocks to God. “A tithe of everything from the land belongs to the Lord” (Leviticus 27:30).

‘Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse. Test me in this says the Lord, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have enough room for it” (Malachi 3:10).

Christians have argued that Tithe demonstrates love for God and others. And when you pay your tithe, your faith grows as God delivers to you both temporal and spiritual blessings.

In the New Testament, the emphasis is on recognizing that everything we have comes from God and belongs to him. We are simply stewards, managers of the stuff that God has given us to use for his purposes. We’re to give cheerfully to God and to meet the needs of others (2 Corinthians 9:7).

But contrary to these, most people still believe tithes are not necessary, Strong advocate against tithing in Nigeria is Popular OAP Daddy Freeze. To him, Tithing is a scam pastors use to enrich themselves.

He Strongly believes That Believers are no longer under the Mosaic covenant, one of the benefit of being under grace is that  tithing is clearly not part of the moral law which is one of the major teachings of Christ.

Another Strong debate against tithes is that Tithes were given to the Levites and priests, but there are no Levites and priests in the new covenant, and that tithe is tied to the land Israel received under the old covenant.

The Final argument which argues that  tithing mentioned Nowhere when the commandment to give generously are found in the New Testament.

So do you believe Tithing is very Compulsory and attracts penalty to defaulters?
