Depression the Joke That is no Longer Funny
Depression is a serious mood disorder. It causes severe symptoms that affect how you feel, think, and handle daily activities, such as sleeping, eating, or working and your association with people.
To be diagnosed with depression, the symptoms might be or might not be with visible characters because most people tend to hide their feelings doing something else to deceive close relatives about how they they truly feel and they seem pretty good at it.
The world is full of people who can be classified as “Loud-silence”. they try to make a sentence but they seem quiet and smile instead of talking and say the magic word, “i am fine”. They feel empty in the midst of many. They feel unloved even when around family members and love ones.
People always associate depression with low mood, mood swings and any noticeable character to show that the person is unhappy. but depression is more than that.
in different cases, people have committed suicide because they couldn’t contain their mood, and their depression, they wouldn’t speak about it to anyone. they kept it to themselves until it becomes too difficult to digest then they start having suicidal thoughts as the way out.
Certain characters can be noticeable one who is depressed’. Characters like
- not going out anymore
- not getting things done at work/school
- withdrawing from close family and friends
- relying on alcohol and sedatives
- not doing usual enjoyable activities
- unable to concentrate
Depressed people start having different thoughts like they are alone, no one loves them, they carry too much burden, they cant blend anymore, then they start feeling
- lacking in confidence
They start secluding themselves from everyone. and anyone. and start having thoughts like
- ‘I’m a failure.’
- ‘It’s my fault.’
- ‘Nothing good ever happens to me.’
- ‘I’m worthless.’
- ‘Life’s not worth living.’
- ‘People would be better off without me.’
One would ask, what is the cause of this sickness or disease? Lets take a look at just three.
Depression is also a symptom of some side effect of drugs and medical treatments. Drugs like contraceptives, cocaine and weed. addiction to these hard drugs and most cases the unavailability of these drugs has an effect on the psychology of the user.
Unfortunately, Most people don’t have the ability to go through a break up and come out of it sane. Not everyone can take a divorce, not everyone can go through a that particular phase and come out a victor. some of these people may be more at risk of depression because of their personality, particularly if they have a tendency to worry a lot and their self esteem has been trampled upon. living in an abusive or uncaring relationship can also be a major cause of depression.

Remember that Everyone’s different and it’s often a combination of factors that can contribute to developing depression. therefore do not disassociate yourself from people who you feel are depressed because a simple how are you? can save a life.
