Deontay Wilder KO’s Luis Ortiz in WBC Heavyweight Championship Rematch
Deontay Wilder wiped out Luis Ortiz with a monstrous right hand on Saturday night in Las Vegas, sending a brutal message through the heavyweight division.
The American looked on course to see his world-title reign ended just short of five years as Ortiz picked him apart for half of their Las Vegas rematch.
However, Wilder crushed him with one devastating right hand to the forehead in the seventh round to retain his heavyweight world title for the 10th time on Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
“I found my measurement, seen the shot and took it,” said Wilder, 34.
The smashing victory was the final hurdle to a rematch between Wilder and lineal champion Tyson Fury, who are penciled in for the main event of a joint pay-per-view between ESPN and Fox on Feb. 22 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
