BREAKING: Petrol Station On Fire As Tanker Explodes Near Local Airport
Emerging reports suggests that a petrol tanker has exploded at Forte Oil filling station near the local airport in Lagos State.
Vanguard reports that the explosion occurred when the tanker was discharging its contents, stirring a massive flame within the premises of the refill station.
DSP Joseph Alabi, the spokesperson for the Lagos Airport Police Command, told Newsmen that the incident occurred while a fuel tanker was discharging its product at the fuel dump.
“A tanker driver came to discharge fuel for them and during the process, fire broke out but it has been put off now.
“It was a disaster because everywhere was burnt down but there was no casualty.
“They called fire fighters from Lagos State Fire Service and also fire fighters from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) responded.
“It was through their efforts that the fire was put off without causing further damages to other nearby structures, ” Alabi said.
As of the time of filing this report, officials of the fire service were still trying to contain the fire.
There are no reports as to the casualty figures, however, there are fears that injuries might have been sustained from the chaos stirred by the fire.
