Bad News For Rivers APC Candidates As Supreme Court Nullifies Primaries Again
Reports has it that the court dismissed an appeal filed by the APC challenging the judgment of a high court in Port Harcourt.
The factions of the Rivers State APC had filed different appeals at the Supreme Court after a stay of execution judgment granted in their favour by a Court of Appeal.
Consequently, the preliminary objection having been upheld, “the appeal is struck out”.
The INEC national commissioner and chairman, voter education and publicity, Festus Okoye, said the commission had taken a position.
The development comes as bad news to candidates of the party in the state, who are seeking to force their inclusion in the ballot ahead of the February 16 and March 2 elections; however some hope still remains as the court is yet to rule on three pending appeals on the primaries.
