Armed Bandits Kidnap Ondo NURTW Chief
The Secretary of the Ondo State branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Mr. Kayode Agbeyangi, was kidnapped on Saturday by some gunmen.
Agbeyangi was reportedly kidnapped along Akure-Ilesa road while on his way to Lagos to meet members of his family.
The vehicle of Agbeyangi was found along the Akure-Ilesa Expressway.
According to SaharaReporters, Jacob Adebo, the Chairman of NURTW in Ondo State confirmed the abduction via a telephone conversation on Sunday.
He said, “He was kidnapped when he was traveling to Lagos and the kidnappers have called the family, demanding N5million ransom.”
“People have started calling me since yesterday to confirm the abduction of Kayode, he was kidnapped around Ilesha road on Saturday.
“And we have informed the policemen in Osun state about this. They promised to begin an investigation on the case and will get back to us”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Femi Joseph, said the incident happened outside Ondo State and that it was not reported in the state.
He said: “The incident did not happen in our jurisdiction. If it had happened here, our men would have taken action immediately.”
