APC Gov Tickets: Ambode’s Fate Hangs in The Balance as Tinubu Fails to Get Involved
The fate of the Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, is still hanging in the balance on Friday as he failed to secure the permission of a national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, for his second term bid in 2019.
According to the PUNCH, Tinubu on Friday, September 14, refused to interfere in the intra-party crisis that has countered Ambode against the leadership of the party in the state and members of the Conference 57.
The discussion among some of the leadership of the Mandate Movement of the state APC, headed by Tinubu, did not turn out well for the incumbent governor.
The party leaders stated that Ambode should not be given a second term ticket because he had spurned the party members since he was first elected in 2015.
The leadership of the Mandate Movement insisted that they would prefer Olajide Sanwo-Olu as their preferred candidate of the party for the 2019 governorship election.
