Again, Sowore Ask Court, For Bail From DSS Detention
Detained pro-democracy activist and Convener of #RevolutionNowmovement, Omoyele Sowore, has filed a motion before the Federal High Court in Abuja seeking bail on self-recognition.
The former presidential candidate was arrested by the DSS on August 3, 2019 for calling for nationwide protests, tagged RevolutionNow, against the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government.
In a motion filed on Friday by his lawyer, asked the court to grant Sowore bail on the ground of self-recognition or upon any condition the court may reasonably deem to impose in the circumstance of the case.
The team prayed to the court to grant him bail, as permitted by Section 28 (4) of the Terrorism Prevention (Amendment) Act, 2013, noting that he would do nothing to interfere with the investigation of the DSS.
The motion filed reads, “The applicant herein is seeking the order of the court admitting the applicant to bail on self-recognition or upon any condition the court may reasonably deem to impose in the circumstance of the case.”
