AFCON 2019: Senegal 2-0 Tanzania
Senegal began their Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a routine victory over Group C rivals Tanzania in Cairo.
Goals from Inter Milan forward Keita Balde and a second half stunner from Keprin Diatta handed Aliou Cisse’s men the three points against Emmanuel Amuneke’s side.
Seen as one of the teams most likely to challenge hosts and favourites Egypt for the title, Senegal were too strong and fast for Tanzania who were making their first appearance at the finals since 1980.
Senegal are Africa’s highest placed nation in Fifa’s world rankings at 22nd but have never won the tournament.
