12 die, 498 Discharged as Nigeria’s Coronavirus Cases Nears 40,000

The new cases of coronavirus infections in Nigeria have brought the total of confirmed cases of the virus in the country to 39,539.

This is according to the latest figures released on Friday night in a tweet by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), The bulk of the new cases was recorded in Oyo state.

While Lagos came second on the list with 168 cases, the FCT recorded 61 cases.

Giving a breakdown of the figures, the health agency noted that states with new infections include Ondo – 29, Osun – 26, Ebonyi – 24, Edo – 23, Ogun – 14, Rivers – 13, Akwa Ibom – 12 and Kaduna – 10.

States with fewer cases include Katsina – 6, Borno – 4, Ekiti, Delta and Imo each having 3 cases and Niger – 1.

However, the total number of discharged cases in Nigeria has now risen to 16,559, following the release of 498 patients from treatment centres.

The NCDC’s updates on Friday also showed that 12 more coronavirus-deaths were recorded as the virus fatality rose to 845 in the country with 12 more deaths.
